Rebel Century 3.0 was part of REBEL 11 which besides the annual Rebel release also contained the lastest artwork of top-programmer Christophe Theron and his Chess Tiger.

This year we were challenged by GM John van der Wiel who had the reputation of "computer killer" as he never lost a single game against the computer in his whole life due to his clever anti-computer-playing-style-strategy. He notable won the human-comp AEGON tournament 2 times, 1991 and 1995. Cartoonist José Diaz made the left cartoon as he made many for Rebel company, see section: artwork.


And so we agreed to play a 6 game match at tournament level, place Maastricht, the Netherlands, international arbiter: Geurt Gijssen once arbiter during one of the famous Karpov - Kasparov matches.


John couldn't keep his reputation and lost the match with 3½ - 2½
